We are thrilled to be partnering with Great River Greening, Minnesota’s leader in nature-based climate solutions through land restoration, for a day of doing some very important work! Great River Greening uses science-based best practices to restore and sustainably manage over 10,000 acres of land each year. This day will provide an opportunity for conservation and restoration along the beautiful Mississippi river in Baxter, MN. Enjoy a crip fall morning along the river during peak fall colors.
Join us in restoring a rare Jack Pine Savanna, a unique grassland habitat with scattered pine and oak trees. Volunteers will help remove common mullein and seed native prairie wildflowers to enhance this thriving ecosystem. Following the restoration work, we'll enjoy a short hike to the scenic banks of the Mississippi River within Baxter’s beautiful 700-acre city park.

Day of: Please arrive promptly. A 15–20 minute walk along a mowed, sandy trail will bring us to the restoration site. The trail is mostly flat, with a few gentle slopes. The work area itself is flat, though participants should be mindful of natural features such as uneven ground, tree stumps, and native vegetation.
There will be light snacks and extra water available during the event. Please bring your own reusable water bottle. In addition, bring your work/gardening gloves if you have them, if not they will be provided.
Safety: Ensuring safety is our highest priority. It is important that event participants wear close-toed shoes and long sleeves to protect against the elements. We recommend dressing for the weather; layers are key.
Note: By registering online, you will complete the release of liability and photo release waiver. Please let us know at the event if you wish to be excluded from event photography.
